I’ve now purchased both sizes of mixing glass. The smaller (500ml) volume mixing glass feels sturdier, the ratio of volume to base weight is just a little more pleasant to handle. The larger problem I have with the larger (700ml) volume mixing glass is that the slightly larger diameter means that it doesn’t properly “catch” the julep strainer that Barfly also sells. It’s so close… it’s off by maybe 2-4mm. It’d be amazing if this design flaw could be addressed (perhaps making the mixing glass a centimeter taller would allow for the diameter to be reduced enough) or if Barfly could offer a slightly larger julep strainer for the larger mixing glass.

I have this mixing glass and a similar one from Hiware, and this 700ml from Barfly is significantly better due to having a much thicker and heavier bottom. Consequently one doesn’t need to hold this with your free hand while stirring to prevent it from moving about. (The Hiware 700ml is lighter and causes one to secure it when stirring.)Ergonomically it feels really good in the hand when pouring or moving about with it. And it’s sturdy. I’ve used this at least five times a week for the last three months, and put it in the dishwasher afterwards every time … doesn’t crack. (My Hiware 700ml cracked after 3 weeks, not dropped nor abused, but that is known flaw with their design).A Hawthorne strainer from A Bar Above fits this perfectly. Appears to be same size mouth as the Hiware 700ml.It’s a beautiful, lovely piece which makes a very positive impression when entertaining guests as well.

This mixing glass is so sharp looking, and pretty darn durable. We have purchased 4, one did unfortunately break when it fell from the bartop onto the concrete. There’s a reason we still purchased it again, these are nice.

As a mixing glass it works great, it looks nice and it seems durable enough for regular use. I’ve had mine for a few weeks now and I don’t have any complaints. When ordering, be sure you’re getting the size you actually want (the options aren’t labeled consistently on the product page), they come in a 500mL and 700mL size. Also be aware, as mentioned by some other reviewers… if you’re planning on using the Barfly julep strainer, that it seems to be intended to fit the 500mL glass, and may not work very well for the 700mL.

Never used one before but I love it. Make cocktails at home on the weekends and never realized how different they taste when stirred.

It looks nice. It feels sturdy. Itβs a little heavy when you pick it up but you want that wait when youβre mixing
